The call for the IV Pilar Plá Pechovierto Prize is open

Bodegas El Maestro Sierra has published the call for applications for the Fourth Pilar Plá Pechovierto Award for Entrepreneurship and Excellence.
The award established in recognition of the work of the winery has a deadline for submitting applications until February 14, 2025. Proposals for the IV Pilar Plá Pechovierto Award for Entrepreneurship may come from the geographical area marked by the Jerez-Xèrés-Sherry Designation of Origin, and refer to any “action that involves effort and originality, providing benefits of a diverse nature to society”; while those applications that come from other points of the national or international geography must have a direct link with Jerez and its Framework.
As for the Excellence category, this is an award with which the Jury unanimously distinguishes the person or entity that it considers to represent the spirit of excellence that is the basis of Doña Pilar’s legacy, so it does not accept applications nor does it foresee an annual periodicity.
The winemaker María del Carmen Borrego Plá, owner of the firm and president of the Jury, has assured that “we are very happy to have already reached the fourth edition of the Award, we believe that it is consolidated year after year and we want to encourage those who believe that they have a valuable entrepreneurial initiative to apply.” “The process is very simple,” explained the winemaker, “you only need to download the application that is on our website and submit a report with it, as indicated on the form itself.”
The rules will be available, along with the application form, on the website www.maestrosierra.com and applications can be submitted from this moment.
The deadline will close on Friday, February 14, 2025, one month before the award ceremony, which in this edition will take place on March 8 of next year.
It should be remembered that, in the first edition, in which the Award was unique to Entrepreneurship and Excellence, it went to Antonio Ramírez, from Tabanco El Pasaje. In the second, the Award for Entrepreneurship was awarded to the initiative “Flor, la hierba del sherry” by Noelia Herrera and Carmen Granados, while the Award for Excellence, posthumously, was given to Lola Flores, on the centenary of her birth.
Finally, last year, the award for Entrepreneurship went to Sergio Nieto from “Casa Martín 1920” in Grazalema and the one for Excellence to Montserrat Fontané, founder of Can Roca in Girona.
