El Maestro Sierra winery today hosted the emotional and endearing ceremony of the III Pilar Plá Pechovierto Awards for Entrepreneurship and Excellence, which this year went to Sergio Nieto from Casa Martín 1920 in Grazalema and Montserrat Fontané from Can Roca in Girona . The event, which began after one in the afternoon, after a light rain that gave way to radiant sunshine, was chaired by the president of the jury and winery owner, María del Carmen Borrego Plá, and was attended by numerous authorities. After reading the minutes of the jury’s decision, Borrego Plá has masterfully described the merits of both winners. First, those of the entrepreneur Sergio Nieto Menacho, who excitedly received the award and the words of the winery. Then, those of Montserrat Fontané, who despite her 87 years of age have gratefully wanted to travel to Jerez to collect this award for Excellence in recognition of Andalusia and the impulse given by the Andalusian workers in Catalonia, her first clients in Can Roca, more than half a century. The final point was the musical performance by Delia María Peña Núñez and the closing by the mayor of Jerez, María José García Pelayo, who recalled the figure of Doña Pilar, the great lady of Jerez.
